Built Tough, By One Who Loves Adventure

Your trailer is crafted by someone who understands the journey, not just the build.

Hi, I’m Nathan Pizzo — New to owning American Teardrop, but designer, builder, and owner of Second Wind Trailers. We’re bringing all the passion and expertise we have to bring back American Teardrop to it’s glory days. Every trailer you see on this site was personally handcrafted by me with care, creativity, and a passion for adventure. If there’s anything I can do to help make your next journey unforgettable, just reach out — I’d love to build something special for you.

WHY I STARTED BUILDING TRAILERS:

I’ve always felt a deep pull to build things with my hands — a passion rooted in the time I spent with my dad. He made it a point to include me in his projects, teaching me the basics of woodworking (including the fine art of using a table saw without losing any fingers — a lesson I took very seriously). Even when time was scarce, he patiently shared his knowledge of tools, materials, and engineering. With five kids and the chaos of life in 1975, those moments weren’t frequent, but they were meaningful — and they stuck with me.

He was my mentor, my inspiration, and the one who first showed me the satisfaction of building something real from scratch. Though he passed away too soon at just 62, not having had the chance to see the creative path he sparked in me, I feel his influence every time I step into the shop. Every trailer I build is, in some way, a quiet tribute to him — and a way for me to stay connected to that part of my story.

My hope is that the things I create go far beyond steel and wood. I want them to become part of your story — something meaningful, lasting, and memory-making. Because at the end of the day, what we build should take us somewhere — not just down the road, but somewhere that feels like freedom. Now we’re carrying on that legacy to my son James – who is learning the craft along side me: Thanks to everything I have learned over the past two decades building trailers as Second Wind, we’ll continue on the traditions of American Teardrop.

THANK YOU! Dad… You are missed every day!

WHY BUY AN AMERICAN TEARDROP CAMPER TRAILER?

Modern Teardrop camper trailers are sleek, aerodynamic, and practical. They can be pulled by virtually any vehicle–even the Mini Cooper or the VW Beetle. Towing large recreational vehicle can be a difficult and expensive proposition. Not only is an RV much more expensive to purchase than an American teardrop camper trailer, but the cost of gas required to pull a full-size RV can be staggering. Plus, full-size RVs require large, generally expensive vehicles to tow them.

Tent camping is great, but what about cooking facilities? And what do you do when it really starts to pour down rain? If you’re a tent camper, you have no doubt ended up with a puddle of water in the bottom of your tent after a particularly fierce rainstorm. Also, with tent camping you have to wait until late morning to pack the tent–to make sure that the dew has dried. Otherwise, you end up with a mildewed mess of fabric.

American Teardrop Camper Trailers are an affordable and convenient alternative to larger recreational vehicles, and they provide additional safety, security, and comfort over tent camping. Many state and national parks are beginning to ban tent camping because of the risk of unwelcomed encounters with wildlife. Your Little Guy Teardrop Camper Trailer is well-constructed out of the highest quality materials, which are selected for low maintenance and longevity. Attention to detail and quality assembly are evident everywhere you look. The exterior and underbelly are laminated with attractive white fiberglass, making your teardrop camper trailer impervious to the elements. And R-7 insulation protects you from the heat and the cold.

Your American Teardrop Camper Trailer is a great way to express yourself, too. Have it customized with your favorite colors, sports team, or hobby. Own a small business? What a great way to advertise! You will be amazed how much attention your unique American Teardrop Camper Trailer attracts as you tow it down the highway.

There are a million reasons to buy an American Camper Trailer. Contact us today to see these little wonders for yourself!

Special Message for All American Teardrop Owners

I want to take a moment to clarify something important for anyone reading this:

As of June 2025, I am the new owner of American Teardrop. I was not involved in any trailer builds, installations, or service work completed prior to that time. While I cannot accept liability for issues stemming from the previous ownership, I am committed to supporting past customers and solving problems wherever possible.

If you’re experiencing any concerns with any trailer built in 2020 through 2023 or even an older build, I’m happy to take a look and offer fair solutions moving forward. My focus is on earning back trust and building high-quality trailers with integrity under the new direction.

— Nathan Pizzo
New Owner of American Teardrop

I bought an American Teardrop trailer that had some problems. I was passing through Auburn California.<br />
They made time to get my trailer in and all repair done in a very short time. A pleasure to have them work on my trailer.
